Improve Your Digital Skills Through PC Passport NPA

Students will improve skills in key areas such as word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, to help to prepare them for employment and further study.

  • Courses will be delivered via time-tabled online classes, using MS Teams, supported with online learning resources in the College's Virtual Learning Environment.

Course Content

Students will improve skills in key areas such as word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, to help to prepare them for employment and further study.

 The qualification will help you develop your knowledge of and give you practical experience in designing and creating presentations; creating, editing and formatting word processing documents; designing and creating spreadsheets. You will also be given opportunities to develop knowledge of, as well as skills in the use of, cloud-based services to store and share your documents and collaborate in projects with your fellow learners.

The NPA PC Passport consists of 3 units. Word processing, Spreadsheet and Presentations.

This is a modern qualification that will teach you how to use contemporary software such as Word™, Excel™ and Powerpoint™. It not only covers how to use the basic functions of these packages, but you will also learn how to use the collaborative and cloud-based features of the packages.

Completing these units will give you skills in using contemporary application packages in word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software which will improve your digital skills, improve your collaboration skills and help improve your vocational skills that can be used in a wide range of job roles as well as having up to date knowledge and skills in using contemporary software

Entry Requirements

Once we have received your application you will asked to attend an informal information and interview session. This may be virtual either through TEAMS or by phone but remember to tell us all about yourself in your personal statement!

Course Timetable

This course runs from January to June 2021 and it is delivered one day a week for 20 weeks.

Assessments

You will be asked to produce evidence of your progress throughout the qualification. You may be asked to complete a series of short tests, to produce a range of documents to store and share online, and to collaborate with others in the production of web-based documents.

Progression

The qualification is linked to Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS), an internationally recognised qualification provided by Microsoft Corporation.

 This qualification is ideal as preparation for employment or progression to further studies since you will gain knowledge and skills that are vital for more advanced qualifications.
