Course Content
Essential skills for employment or progression to further study will be developed including ICT, Communication, Numeracy, Problem solving, Working with others, Time management and Diligence
You will undertake a range of integrated projects developing skills in traditional photography and image editing software. Subjects studied will include the following areas: Camera Techniques, Lighting, Studio Photography, Portraiture, Location Photography, Analogue Processes, Digital Imaging, Creative Manipulation, Image Manipulation and File Optimisation. The course content is subject to change
Entry Requirements
To apply for this course, you will need to have independent learning skills. All learners are different, but you should expect to study over at least 5 days and between 28/30 hours per week. It is a requirement that you attend all tutor timetabled sessions-other hours can be flexible
- Examples of creative work
- Successful interview-Via Teams
- 3 National 5 awards at C or 3 intermediate 2 awards or Foundation Studies in Creative Industries or equivalent (qualifications ideally include English and Art/Graphics)
- Entry is possible for mature students without the stated academic qualifications depending on their prior knowledge and experience
Course Timetable
This course runs from 18 January 2021 to 27 June 2021
Attendance: Full Time Short Course, online/blended learning – you have to attend all tutor-led online workshops. For this course they will take place: Monday am, Wednesday pm, Thursday and Friday
Independent study time is also required.
Assessments
Assessments will be practical and written.
What you Need...
You will need your own suitable equipment in order to complete this course of study via the blended learning pathway, to include:
- DSLR camera
- A computer with internet access and a minimum speed of 5MB
- Tripod
- Flash
- Lens
- For students that are following the course Online or will have access to the Stranraer campus
You will additionally need a 35mm SLR Camera and access to a simple darkroom set up (your subject tutor can advise your regarding this at interview). Blended learners will use college facilities.
Progression
Students may apply to progress to HNC Photography.
